Departures & Arrivals – TAW seeks guitar or bass

It is with some sadness that I report our bass player Brian has decided to move on from TAW. For the past year Brian has been the energy in our trio, creative and rocking on the bass and a ton of fun to watch live. Jenn and I will miss him, he was a big part of the first era of THE ACCIDENT WILL.

But as band members come and go, so goes life. And that means that TAW is looking for a new guitar or bass player (I can play both). The solid foundation for our future has been laid but it’s time to knock down the doors and grab Edmonton’s music scene by the throat!

Check out our full ‘new member’ ad here… we look forward to hearing from you and bringing THE ACCIDENT WILL to the next level.

Cowbell, Moshing, and Awesomeness Ensued!

We have awesome friends and fans. I’ll start by saying that. To everybody who came out, stood in the crowd, clapped along, sang along, played cowbell, moshed, whatever… you all rock. Last night’s show would not have been even half as fun without you.

Last night was The Accident Will’s EP release show at DV8, here in Edmonton, and I think I can speak for the entire band when I say that we had a blast. The turnout was amazing, as was the energy in the room. Of the shows I’ve played in the past, this one ranks #1. Hands down.

To the guys in Bad Acid and DeSousa drive, thanks for coming out and playing our show with us! We had a really fun night. Everyone should go check out these two bands:

DeSousa Drive – www.desousadrive.com

There were so many highlights of the show last night! We had an audience member come up on stage and help out with the vocals for our cover of Blink 182′s “Stay Together for the Kids.” She kicked ass. We had a choir of cowbells, thanks to a group of audience percussionists, playing during the break of “In Blackest Night.” And we had people moshing throughout. I have to say, it felt incredible to watch people get into our songs like that.

I can’t wait to play more shows with these guys and continue to grow as a band. I look forward to whatever else is coming our way!

Rock and Roll in Canada

So we’re finishing loading the van to head to the gig we start it to let it warm up because you know it’s -30 out, thats -22 for all you Fahrenheit followers. But as you know, as all good nights have, a problem to deal with before hand. We lost all electrical. No heat, no wipers, no windows, no signal lights, and no defrost. We were able to open the windows so we can see to get to the gig. So we’re driving across Edmonton in one of the biggest snow falls we’ve had since 1995 with the windows wide open only to have the van stall 20 blocks away from the venue in the middle of a busy intersection. So as Ryan and myself are trying to push the gear filled van, a truck pulls up, full of people I’ve known for years and haven’t seen in a good while. After a great reunion they helped us push the van into a parking lot. As we struggle to come up with how to get not only us but all the gear to the venue the van starts but still with no electrical, so we suck it up and book it over to the gig and had a great night with a great story….the van ran fine the next day.

THE ACCIDENT WILL

Music matters.

As uncertain and even discouraging as the music industry appears to be here in the early 21st century, music continues to be & remains important, valid, inspiring and connecting. Whether people buy CDs, purchase digital or steal music; if it comes from a high-end production house with decades or experience or a guy’s basement; if they’re opening some dive club or filling football stadiums, music is one of the most powerful expressions we have. As people. As humans. As husbands, mothers, children, exes, loners, students and saints & sinners.

AW is twelve years of unrealized potential, an arsenal of songs previously existing only inside my mind. It’s the creative rush that comes with being floored at the inspiration that can spring forth from three people jamming downstairs. The most exciting thing about this band, and I truly believe I can speak for all three band members when I say this, is that we love the music we’re playing. We love playing the music that we write. We don’t have delusions of grandeur or ambitions of world tours and stadiums, we’re not concerned about how much money we can make off of people or how many t-shirts we can move. We want to share our music with friends & strangers alike.

We can’t wait for you to hear it. ~ R
